Stock type in Restoration comedies. Empty, vain and narcissistic follower of fashion, often Frenchified and very, very stupid. Good examples are Sir Fopling Flutter in George Etherege's The Man of Mode (1676) or Sparkish in William Wycherley's The Country Wife (1675).
