Courtier of Elizabeth I and poet.

Sidney wrote the prose romance Arcadia, which his contemporaries loved and which authors such as William Shakespeare borrowed heavily from. Nowadays, people are not so sure about Arcadia, some find it as dull as watching your nosehair grow, others see in it one of the greatest Renaissance texts.
