Collage

The act of assembling and arranging pieces of paper or cloth, newspaper clippings, photographs etc. so that, fixed on a given surface, they become a work of art (called a collage too). While the principle was available to earlier cultures, collage as an artist's technique is very much associated with the 20th century.
