Born 15 November 1977 at St Mary’s Hospital in London. He is the oldest child of Princess Anne and her first husband Mark Phillips and the oldest grandchild of Queen Elizabeth II. He was educated at Shaftesbury in Dorset and then he went on to Gordonstoun School in Scotland where he became head boy. Like the other members of his family he is a keen sportsman and he played rugby for the Scottish Schools team. Later he studied Sports at Exeter University. He has a younger sister, Zara Phillips, and two half-sisters, Felicity Tonkin and Stephanie Phillips.

After having finished his studies he was the hospitality manager for Jaguar cars and then he became sponsorship manager for Williams Formula One racing team. Since 2005 he has worked for the Royal Bank of Scotland.

In August 2007 his engagement to Autumn Kelly was announced, whom he met at the Montreal Canadian Grand Prix in 2003. She works as a consultant manager and moved to the UK right after their engagement. They married at St George's Chapel, Windsor, on 17 May 2008. Autumn Kelly, who was a Roman Catholic, converted to the Church of England before her marriage; otherwise her husband would have had to give up his place in succession to the throne under the 1701 Act of Settlement. Now he is 11th in the line to the throne. Peter and Autumn live in a cottage on the Gatscombe estate in Gloucester. Autumn’s first pregnancy was announced. Their first child is expected to be born in December 2010.
