Edward VIII

1894 - 1972. King of the United Kingdom and the British Dominions, Emperor of India (20 January 1936 - 11 December 1936). His intention to marry the American divorcee Wallis Simpson caused a constitutional crisis that ended with his abdication. Afterwards, he was created Duke of Windsor, married Wallis Simpson and spent most of his life abroad.
