Famous battle, took place 27 June 1743 near the Bavarian city of Dettingen. Part of the War of the Austrian Succession. Famous on military grounds, because Britain and its allies won. Famous on musical grounds, because Friedrich Händel wrote the "Dettingen Te Deum" in celebration of the victory.
