Judith Butler
Judith Butler, who was born on the 24th of February 1956 in Ohio. She studied at the Yale University, where she received her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts in philosophy. After he degree, she began her doctoral studies and obtained her PhD in 1978. Butler was already an activist in her student days; she still fights for equal rights for women and wanted to give women a much more important role. In one of her speeches, she mentioned that she do not identify herself as a woman, as she is non-binary. Judith Butler is currently engaged to Wendy Brown, also a feminist, and they have a son together. Beyond her activity of being an activist, she is teaching philosophy at the University of California. Moreover, she wrote several books dealing with diversity and, in particular, the role of women in our society. Her most well-known books are: "Bodies That Matter (1996)" and "Gender Trouble (1990)".
