Family
Prince George has a younger sister, Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana of Cambridge, who was born in 2015. And a younger brother, Prince Louis, born in 2018. His paternal grandparents are Charles, Prince of Wales and Diana, Princess of Wales. From this marriage also comes his uncle, Harry, Prince of Wales. His paternal great-grandparents are the Queen, Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. His maternal, untitled grandparents are Michael Francis Middleton and Carole Elizabeth Middleton, née Goldsmith.
Life
George Alexander Louis of Cambridge was born 22 July 2013 at St Mary’s Hospital in London. He was baptised 23 October 2013 at the Chapel Royal at St James’s Palace by the Archbishop of Canterbury. The baptismal service was strictly private and closed to the public.
Since January 2016, he attends the Westacre Montessori School in King's Lynn not far from Anmer Hall.
Media Attention
Prince George caught the special attention of the public even before his birth for different reasons. Not only was he the first born child to the Duke and Duchess, but moreover the pregnancy was made public due to the hospitalisation of the Duchess at an early stage of the pregnancy. It was officially announced by Clarence House in early December 2012 that the Duchess was being treated for morning sickness at King Edward VII hospital in central London 1.
As his birth was the first birth of a British successor to the throne since 1984, it was eagerly awaited by the British nation. Media coverage from St Mary’s Hospital began weeks before delivery of George. His name was announced on 24 July, two days after his birth.
In the following years, his public appearances were mostly limited to his visits of New Zealand and Australia during the family’s royal tour in 2014, his first public appearance in the United Kingdom at Buckingham Palace after his sister’s birth in May 2015 and the family’s royal tour to Canada and the USA in late 2016.
In 2015, Kensington Palace demanded that no more unauthorised photographs of George and Charlotte should be published, as the Royal Palace insists on strictly publishing their own official photos and information on the Royal Family.
