Born 21 June 1982, London. Full name: William Arthur Philip Louis Mountbatten-Windsor. Baptised 4 August 1982 in the music room of Buckingham Palace. Full titles: HRH Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, Earl of Strathearn and Baron Carrickfergus.

Family

Prince William is the older son of Prince Charles and Diana. He has a younger brother, Prince Harry. His parents split up at the end of 1992, which was announced by John Major, the then Prime Minister; 4 years later, on 28 August 1996, their marriage was dissolved, but Princess Diana stayed at Kensington Palace ([1]). When Prince William was 15, his mother was killed in a car crash.

In November 2010 William announced his engagement with his long-term companion Kate Middleton. On 29 April 2011 he married his fiancée and thus became HRH Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, Earl of Strathearn and Baron Carrickfergus. The couple have three children. George (born in 2013), Charlotte Elizabeth Diana (born in 2015) and Prince Louis Arthur George (born in 2018).

Education

At first, William attended Mrs Mynors' School, then he went to Wetherby School (London) between 1987 and 1990. After that, he spent five years at Ludgrove School (Berkshire) and then went to Eton College. After a gap year, he started studying at St Andrews University (Scotland) and graduated in Geography in 2005.

Army

In 2006, Prince William became an army officer at Sandhurst and a Second Lieutenant of the Household Chivalry. He trained as Search and Rescue Pilot for the Royal Air Force. In the RAF he was known as "Flight Lieutenant William Wales" ([2]). William left the RAF in 2013. Since 2015, he works for the East Anglian Air Ambulance.
