Famous battle, took place 27 June 1743 near the Bavarian  city of Dettingen. Part of the [[War of the Austrian Succession]]. 
Famous on military grounds, because Britain and its allies won. 
Famous on musical grounds, because [[George Frideric Handel|Friedrich Händel]] wrote the "Dettingen Te Deum" in celebration of the victory.
