'''Lady Elizabeth Angela Marguerite Bowes-Lyon''' was born in August 4th 1900 in London and died March 30th 2002 in Windsor. She was Queen Elizabeth's mother and the British public called her lovingly '''Queen Mum'''.

== Childhood and Youth ==

Lady ELizabeth was the ninth of ten children of the 14th Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne Claude George Bowes-Lyon and his wife Cecilia Nina Cavendish-Bentinck. Elizabeth spent her childhood with her brother David on Glamis Castle in Scottland and learned to speak French and German fluently. On Elzabeth's 14th birthday, Great Britain joined World War I and Glamis Castle became a hospital for wounded soldiers. During World War I, Elizabeth lost one of her brothers, namely Fergus Bowes-Lyon.

== Her life as Duchess of York ==

At the beginning of the 1920s, while Elizabeth had become a real beauty, the kings second son Albert fell in love with her. He proposed to her three times. She rejected the two times and accepted the last proposal with the famous words: "All right Bertie". The wedding took place on April 26th 1923 in Westmister Abbey. On April 21st 1926, Elizabeth Alexandra Mary of Teck was born as their first child in London. Today, she is known as Queen Elizabeth II.

== Her life as Queen Elizabeth ==

In January 1936 King George V. died. His first son David had to retire from his position as King Edward VIII. after only 10 month of reign because of an affair with an American woman. On Mai 12th 1937, Albert was crowned King instead of his brother and became King George VI. His wife became Queen Elizabeth and only because of her the British Monarchy escaped a crisis.
1940, after Great Britain join World War II, Queen Elizabeth denied the request to move into safe exile with the words: "The princesses cannot go without me, I cannot go without the King and the King will never go". She stayed in London during the whole war and encouraged the suffering people. The German dictator Adolf Hitler once called her "the most dangerous woman in Europe" because of her resolute character. When World War II ended on May 8th 1945 the royal couple was hailed for their support in front of Buckingham Palace.

== Her life as Queen Mom ==

Lady Elizabeth Angela Marguerite Bowes-Lyon changed over night when King George VI. died on February 6th 1952. His first daughter climbed the throne as Queen Elizabeth II. Lady Elizabeth wished to be called "Her Majesty Queen lLizabeth the Queen Mother"
In 1954 Lady Elizabeth visited the USA and Canada in order to gather money for her dead husbands beneficence. She asked herself who wants to see a royal widow before her journey and went all wrong: Everybody wanted to see her. A Canadian once called her "Queen Mum" - and that should be her popular name from that point on.
Even in old age, Queen Mum made several appearances in public. On August 4th 2002, she celebrated her 100th birthday in the center of London as the first part of the Royal Family.
On March 30th 2002, Lady Elizabeth Angela Marguerite Bowes-Lyon or Queen Mum died on Windsor Castle. The funeral took place on April 9th 2002 in Westmister Abbey where she was buried in the manner of the British Empire. She was the last Empress of India and the last Queen of Ireland.

===Biography===

Camilla Rosemary Mountbatten Windsor, duches of Cornwell and Rothesay was born in London on July 7th 1947 as Camilla Rosemary Shand. Nower days, she's known as '''Camilla Parker Bowles''' and the wife of Prince Charles.

Her father, Major Bruce Shand, was the Vice Lord Lieutenant of East Sussex and still is a very eminent respectable wine merchant.
Her mother is Rosalind Cubitt.

Camilla grows up in Sussex with her two younger siblings (a sister Annabel and brother Mark), very sheltered and prosperous.
When she was five years old she attended the Dickensian Drumbells School. At the age of ten she attended to the Queen’s Gate School in South Kensington, a school forhigher class' daughters. There she learned to cook and to create flower arrangements. Since her sixteens birthday she attended some public schools in France and Switzerland and finished her apprenticeship.

She first met Prince Charles in 1972 at a Polo-tournament. Immediately they got along, share the same interests and the love for nature. But the Royal House didn't accept Camilla as Charles wife. He had to marry a virgin (->So he married Princess Diana in 1981). Also Camilla married while Charles went to the Royal Navy in 1973. Her husband, Andrew Parker Bowles, was godson of Queen Elizabeth II. Andrew and Camilla get two children: Tom *1975 and Laura *1979.

During the marriage of Charles and Diana, Camilla and the Prince of Wales still had an affair which was well known to the publicity (e.g. piquant telephone calls printed in the yellow press around the world). The Royal House accused her to be the main reason for the failiure of Charles' and Diana's marriage. The population of Great Britain declared her to be the most hated woman in the country.
Camilla and Andrew Parker Bowles were divorced in 1995 - Charles and Diana in 1997, shortly before Diana died in a tragic car accident in Paris. For this reason the Royal House's efforts concerning Camilla's new role (on Charles' side) failed.

In 2004 Queen Elizabeth II. agreed for the first time to Camilla's and Charles' marriage. Due to this facts, Camilla will never reach the same position as Diana in the royal family.
