Shakespeares tragedy "Macbeth" was first played 1606. It plays in Scottland and England in the 11.century.
The plot is not only based on Shakespeares fantasy. It also deals with some historical facts about the kings Macbeth and James the first.
Besides Shakespeare put in the themes superstition and mythology. The people to that time believed in heaven and hell.
In this tragedy Shakespeare created an atmosphere of badness and cruelty.
The lower characters say the most important things. Because of that the witches show at the beginning the disorder of the play and refer to the following plot. The witches are a symbol of the fall.

The novel “Robinson Crusoe” was published by Daniel Defoe in the year 1719. It is the first work of the civil novel, a new genre. Robinson Crusoe is the first novel-hero, who was descended from the middle classes. The protagonist lives 28 years in a uninhabited island. This story should be based upon the adventures of the seaman Alexander Selkirk.
The undertitle gives already a summary of the story: “The Life and Strange Surprizing Adventures of Robinson Crusoe, of York, Mariner: Who lived Eight and Twenty Years, all alone in an un-inhabited Island an the Coast of America, near the Mouth of the Great River of Oroonoque; Having been cast on Shore by Shipwreck, wherein all the Men perished but himself. With an Account how he was at last as strangely deliver`d by Pyrates. Written by himself.”
Because of the success Defoe published a continuation with the title: “The Farther Adventures of Robinson Crusoe; Being the Second and Last Part of his Life, And of the Strange Surprizing Accounts of his Travels Round three Parts of the Globe.”
For a collection of religious and moral views Defoe used the name of Robinson Crusoe to have more success, too: “Serious Reflections during the Life and Surprizing Adventures of Robinson Crusoe. With his Vision of the Angelick World. Written by Himself.” This work is often called as the third part.
The author Daniel Defoe was born in 1660 with the name Daniel Foe. In the year 1703 he added the nobility-form „De“ and henceforth he was called Daniel Defoe.
He was the son of an emigrated protestant-familiy. This was the reason why he had to handle with discrimination his whole life. Because of that Daniel Defoe had to go to the Academy Newington, the visit of the universities of Oxford and Cambridge was forbidden for him. Defoe was descended from the civil middle classes.
He worked as a journalist and as an author, who deals with political themes; he worked for the Whigs and the Tories. Because of his political works he had to go into a prison. After his release he published the journal „Review“.
But his big success was the novel „Robinson Crusoe“ (1719) although he published other novels:
